About the Camp...
In its ninth year, the Heartland Summer
Vocal Camp is designed to help teachers and students develop their understanding
of and skills in pop and jazz vocal styles. The camp is open to all high school
and college students, teachers, amateur and professional singers, regardless of
experience level. There are sessions designed especially for professional high
school or college educators, others just for directors and managers of
collegiate a cappella groups, others for aspiring pro performers, and others for
those who are new to pop and jazz music. A low student-to-teacher ratio ensures
that every participant gets lots of one-on-one attention, and the opportunity to
explore a variety of musical interests.
Camp Schedule...
Camp registration is at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday,
June 22, in the Gillmor Student Center on the Tiffin University campus. Each
day’s schedule includes ensemble rehearsals, private vocal instruction, classes
in music theory or arranging, and special interest sessions in a variety of
topics including beatboxing, rehearsal techniques, music business, vocal health,
and many more. Each evening includes performances by camp participants and
faculty, singing pop and jazz solos with an outstanding professional band.
The week concludes with a concert by camp ensembles on
Thursday, June 26, at 7:00 p.m.

Location...
The Heartland Vocal Camp is held on the
Tiffin University campus in Tiffin, Ohio. Tiffin is centrally located in
Northwest Ohio, 50 miles from Toledo, 90 miles from Cleveland, Columbus &
Detroit, and accessible from Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Indianapolis.

Tuition...
Tuition is $390 per person for the week-long
camp, and discounts are available for groups representing the same school or
ensemble. The tuition includes all sessions and activities including private
instruction and use of the campus recording studio. Costs for on campus
housing and meals are outlined below. Optional undergraduate or graduate
credit is available for an additional tuition charge.
Housing...
Campus housing is available for $55 per
person for the entire week, double occupancy. Supervised campus housing is
required of all high-school aged participants. Off-campus housing is available
for additional cost.
Meals...
A campus meal plan includes three meals a
day beginning on Sunday dinner, and is available for just $85 for the week.
Meals are served all-you-can-eat in the campus dining hall, and include hot
dishes, grill and deli items, and salad bar. Off-campus meals are also available
at local restaurants.
Undergraduate and Graduate
Credit...
Tiffin University is offering both graduate
and undergraduate credit for camp participants. Full participation in all
sessions is required. Call or email for more info, and register for MUS
290 (2 or 3 semester hours) or HUM 590 (3 graduate semester hours). An
additional paper or project may be required. Information on academic
credit will be sent upon receipt of camp registration material.
